**Junk food argumentative essay**

The public has recently become more aware of the negative consequences that junk foods bring. Parents fear had force this issue to be debated whether junk food should or should not be banned at schools. The term ‘junk food’ refers to food that contains low nutritional value includes takeaway foods, pre-packaged meals and sugary snack foods (Tran 2005). The nutritional value of food eaten by Australian children has been dropping continuously over the past 3 decades (Weekend News 2005). I strongly stressed that junk food should be banned in school for several reasons.

Junk food can be said unhealthy or of low in nutritional content. Most junk food is made by adding chemical additives to improve their flavor and colour. The additives also function to increase its vitality. However, these substances have been proven to cause behavioral problems in children such as hyperactivity. They are also said to have caused various diseases to children. Products such as instant noodles, potato chips and chocolate bars raise the kilojoule intake and lead to weight gain (Weekend News 2005).

Junk food packaging is also a major problem towards society. Litter is a safety and health hazard, increasing cleaning cost, and is bad for the image of our communities (Family Journal 2005). School teachers also reported that there was a major difference when they banned the selling of junk foods at their school. The school workers do not have to spend so much time cleaning and has more time for other maintenance plans that benefit the school. In this way, the school can spend the money to other profiting sector.

There are also reports saying that junk food had cause problems toward the educational basis. According to the The Food Show (2005), teachers noted significant improvement in students’ behaviour in class when junk food and soft drinks are removed from the school canteen. Plus, students are noticed to be calmer after lunch when not consuming junk food. Poor eating habits of children can induce unhealthy growth and reduce their learning potential as junk foods often consist of chemical enhancers which can induce behavioural problems (The Food Show 2005).

As the conclusion, I strongly believe that the banning of junk foods is the best solution. They provide a better future for the students. Plus, based on the reasons above, junk foods clearly bring more negative impact either it is directly or indirectly towards people. The world can be a better place just by this small step. Stop consuming junk foods.

Text production 2nd draft.

Global warming is a process which was actually necessary as it tends to keep the earth warm and comfortable for humans to live in. As the sun projects its radiation towards earth, the light passes through the atmosphere and some is radiated back into space in the form of infra red. The rest of the infra red is trapped by the atmosphere which keeps the earth warm at an appropriate temperature. However, as the atmosphere thickens with the help of green house gases, more of the infra red is trapped inside making earth warmer and warmer. Thus, we must identify the potential effects of global warming towards climate change and handled it immediately.

Global warming creates impact on the strength and occurrence of hurricanes and storms. Ocean temperature that increases intensifies the power of hurricane to a deadly nature disaster. Japan and United States have recorded a large number of death reports due to hurricane events. According to the Inconvenient Truth (2007), Al-Gore stated “As the water temperature increases, the wind velocity increases and the moisture content increases, making the hurricane stronger and stronger resulting to devastating effect”. Easy said, global warming had cause the ocean temperature boost up as well. At the same time, the rise in ocean temperature has disturbed the climate in term of occurrence of hurricanes.

Global warming also means more precipitation of water that come in a onetime storm. Evaporation of ocean moisture up and form clouds. Flood cases have been shown all around the world such as China and India. Plus, the warming does not only increase precipitation, it relocates the precipitation as well. High latitudes area and generally wet places will be favor of more rainfall, while tropical regions and generally dry places will receive less rain. Warming result in evaporation of ocean that makes more clouds but, it also sucks moisture from the soil making drought. On some predictions, climate change flooding could make around 100-200 million people permanently homeless by 2100 (Woodford, 2006).

Global warming is also affecting the seasons. The warm temperature has shift the growing season in many parts of the globe. Spring is coming earlier, which signals the migrating animals to keep up with the seasons to follow food sources. Those animals that failed to keep up ended up facing extinction. Warmer temperature has also result an extend towards growing season, plants need more water to keep growing or they will dry out, increasing the risk of fires. Shorter winters have failed to kill insects and vectors. More and more infectious diseases are no longer under control due to the unexpected pattern of the seasons. Research made in the Inconvenient Truth (2007) mentioned that “we had 30 so called new diseases that have emerged just in the last quarter century”

To reduce global warming means to produce less carbon dioxide. Human beings are the one causing this catastrophic event to happen and so we are able to reduce it as well. Global warming is happening now, and scientists have evidence that humans are to blame (Riebeek, 2007). More efficient electricity appliances, higher mileage cars, the use of renewables and a lot more possible means can be done to reduce and finally stop global warming. Research shows that we can even reach below 1970 carbon emission if we can work together towards energy efficiency.

As the conclusion, global warming has brought enough harm towards our mother earth. It is time for us to use any means necessary to stop this disastrous matter from simultaneously damaging the planet. Limiting green house gases or especially carbon dioxide takes time. Thus, all plans must be put to actions before it is too late. The solutions are in our hand.
